Growing the Gladiolus flower is not a very difficult task as long as you observe some of the general gardening rules. The corms should be planted in well drained soil and where they get maximum sunlight throughout the day. Water them frequently but do not over soak soil that will result in rot. It is possible to add compost or balanced fertilizer to ensure vigorous growth and colorful flowers. Staking of Gladiolus plants is necessary as they are tall plants and thus they may bend. In colder climates, gardeners tend to uproot the corms after the blooming period in order to save them to use in the following planting season.
