I received a notice in the mail from Peck & Ray, LLP about an old debt, and it has me pretty stressed out. Im not even 100% sure the debt is mine, and Im worried about what happens next. I know they are a debt collection law firm, so Im concerned about the possibility of a lawsuit or wage garnishment.

Ive been reading about my rights and I think I need to send a debt validation letter to verify the claim, but Im not sure what the best first step is. Has anyone been through this process with them? How did you handle it? Did you hire a lawyer or were you able to negotiate a settlement on your own? I want to make sure I respond to this correctly and don't miss any deadlines or put myself in a worse position. Any advice from someone with a similar experience would be really helpful.
